If confirmed by other experts, a new report from the Orlando Sentinel tonight could spell big trouble for George Zimmerman, currently under investigation for shooting 17 year old Trayvon Martin. The most important question Special Prosecutor Angela Corey is seeking to answer is what happened in the moments leading up to his death. Who was the aggressor? Zimmerman, his family and supporters have alleged it was Martin and that Zimmerman was screaming for help as he fought for his life. Trayvon Martin’s mother, on the other hand, has insisted she’s certain it was her son heard on the 911 call made moments before the unarmed Martin was shot, not Zimmerman. Figuring out whose scream that was could determine who was the victim and ultimately whether charges will be filed.

The Sentinel presented the tapes to 2 top experts and reported:

Tom Owen, forensic consultant for Owen Forensic Services LLC and chair emeritus for the American Board of Recorded Evidence, used voice identification software to rule out Zimmerman. Another expert contacted by the Sentinel, utilizing different techniques, came to the same conclusion. . . ” you can say with reasonable scientific certainty that it’s not Zimmerman,” Owen says, stressing that he cannot confirm the voice as Trayvon’s, because he didn’t have a sample of the teen’s voice to compare.

The Sentinel article goes on to explain the methodology used by the experts here.
